A French Writing Table

A 19th century French Louis XVI style faded mahogany writing table decorated with fine boxwood inlays and Neoclassical brass handles. The top fitted with its original leather insert and framed by a raised timber moulding, lowered on one edge to allow elbows to rest on the edge. Two shallow drawers opening across the narrow rails. This writing table is finished on all four sides, and can stand in the centre of a room. Area of Isle de France (Greater Paris), circa 1880.
This item is currently for sale in a shop near Paris, and will not be shipped to Melbourne – unless someone wants it, and is willing to put down a deposit on its purchase.
Condition report: In good and un-restored condition.
