A French ‘Cupid’ Ceiling Light
A French gilt brass ceiling light, designed as a blindfolded Cupid hovering from the ceiling, suspended by a chain and silk electrical cord, holding in each of his hands a large, blown glass rose-shaped light. Cupid being the symbol of love and passion, is blindfolded – (love being blind). Note the cheekiness of the cherub, with one eye peeking from under the blindfold. Area of Paris, circa 1900.
Condition report: Complete and in excellent, unrestored condition, requiring bto be rewired to Australian safety standards, using silk electrical cord.
