A ‘Bonnetiere de Mariage’ Display Bookcase
A 19th century French Louis XV style haut-relief carved solid oak ‘Bonnetiere de Mariage’ display bookcase, a tall and slender cupboard traditionally given as a gift to a newly-wed couple. The shaped 'Chapeau de Gendarme' pediment above clear glass panels, the door decorated with urn motifs and pairs of cooing doves, with trellises of laurel leaves and flowers. Internally fitted with shelves. Area of Normandy, circa 1880.
