An exceptional French Table d’Office
Reference No: MM67
A rare 18th century French “Table d'Office” table, typically found in French country chateaux and in hunting lodges, the thick top made from a single, massive plank of oak, standing on square-section 'X' shaped legs joined by a central stretcher. The surfaces of this table are very well-worn and burnished, and with an excellent patina. Note some of the original, early 19th century repairs made to shrinkage gaps in the top, still filled with molten lead (as was used at the time). Area of Normandy, circa 1780.
Condition report: In excellent, unrestored condition.
Dimensions: 142 x 76 cm, height 74 cm.
