A Normandy Elm Farmhouse Table
Reference No: MX
A large and wide 19th century elm Normandy farmhouse table, the massive 6.5 cm thick top standing on sturdy, square-section legs joined by an 'H' stretcher. Typically for the Calvados area of Normandy, the legs are jointed directly into the planks of the top. There are no side and end rails, which leaves ample leg-room under the table top. This table will fit four chairs per side (five, if guests straddle legs), plus one at each end. Region of Calvados, Normandy, circa 1880.
Condition report: In excellent, unrestored condition. The elm top and legs retain their original, water-stained finish. These superficial stains are easily removed in our workshop, during conservation work.
Dimensions: 260 x 93 cm, height 75 cm.
