A French Verre d’Amitié

A large-size, mid 19th century French finely blown glass “Verre d'Amitié” on an elegant baluster stem, the bowl hand-etched with garlands and stylised flowers. The underside's pincer mark made by the glass blower, as with better quality glassware, was cut away with a waterwheel. “Verres de Mariage” and “Verres d'Amitié” were traditionally used for wedding couples to drink from at weddings and wedding anniversaries. Area of the Verreries de la Bresle, Normandy, circa 1860.
Condition report: In excellent condition, no chips or cracks.
