A French Coal “Hotte”

A 19th century French shaped brass “Hotte” (in English, a ‘scuttle’) coal bucket, with its typically sturdy curved and riveted handle, and a large and protruding spout. These buckets were used to fill stoves with coal, but can be used as wonderful wine and Champagne coolers, or as flower vases. Area of Isle de France (Greater Paris), circa 1880.
Condition report: In good and original and nicely worn condition.
Dimensions: Height with handle 39 cm, diameter of opening 25 cm.
