A 17th century French Farmhouse Table
Reference No: 4328
A rare late 17th century French farmhouse 'Table d'Office' from the area of Lower Normandy, with its protruding overhangs, bread-ends and the traditional stretcher base. The top made from two exceptionally thick and well-burnished elm planks. Note the early construction technique, with the legs joined directly to the table top with massive tenons.
Condition report: In good and original condition throughout, the timbers well-burnished and with good, dry patina. During conservation work we would remove the non-original brackets from the joints of the legs to the top.
Dimensions: 207 x 71.5 cm, height 76.5 cm.
