A French Louis XV 'Enfilade' Sideboard

A French Louis XV style, extra wide 'Buffet d'Enfilade' four door sideboard, the wonderful serpentine and bombee shaped solid walnut body decorated with finely carved haut relief mouldings and with foliate and stylised seashell motifs. Retaining the original, serpentine-shaped and moulded 'Breche' marble top. Please note the high quality of the cabinetmaking, typical of workshops of the Parisian 'Faubourg Saint Antoine'. The top inscribed with the cabinetmaker's hallmark "Schaal". Please note the nicely faded tonalities of the walnut timbers. Area of Paris, circa 1900.
