A large French Louis XVI Desk

A large, French Louis XVI style desk of Classical proportions, the nicely faded mahogany timbers offset by the finely cast and gilt brass mounts, escutcheons and leg finials. This desk is also fitted with two slide-out extension leaves, with gilt-edge leather inserts. Retaining the original locks and keys, the original gilt-edge leather top and an excellent, fruitwood-like faded patination. Area of Paris, circa 1930.
