  • Stock ID: 15481
  • Reference No: JFP1 @W/H

A 17th century French 'Table d'Office' farmhouse table, used in origin both as a kitchen work table and as a dining table, the massive 5 cm thick two-plank beechwood top retaining a wonderful character and marked by many generations of use. Standing on square-section oak legs joined by an 'H' stretcher. Please note the large-sized oak 'pegs' used throughout this table (which anchor the internal, floating tenons), and the good leg-room under the top. The early construction techniques used on this table are typical of the period. The timbers are presently dry as driftwood. Area of Calvados in Northwestern France, Louis XIV period, circa 1680.
