A French provincial farmhouse dining table of classical proportions, the solid oak top built from wide planks and fitted with 'bread-ends', standing on square-section tapering legs, the large overhangs and the shallowness of the long rails allowing for very comfortable legroom. The top retaining a wonderful patina and with character left by generations of use, the underside showing its early, jointed and pegged construction technique. Please note the excellent colour of the oak timbers. Area of the Loire Valley, circa 1880.
