A fine and elegant 19th century French Louis XV style faded rosewood Bureau Plat desk, decorated with fine Parisian-quality gilt brass escutcheons and mounts, the writing top with gilt-edge brass mouldings and fitted with its original gilt-edged calf leather. Of good length and depth and of excellent quality of workmanship, the desk is signed on an internal plaque by renown Parisian cabinetmakers "Gouffé Jeune, Faubourg Saint-Antoine à Paris". Please note the understated elegance of this desk and the jewellery-like quality of the gilt brass mounts. Area of Paris, circa 1880.
