An early 18th century French Regence period, solid elm farmhouse table from the area of Lower Normandy, designed with typically large overhangs and the traditionally sturdy legs and 'H' stretcher. The top is made from just two exceptionally thick and well-burnished planks and built with early construction techniques, with the the legs being joined directly into the table top - allowing for plenty leg-room under the top. Please note the elegance of the bookmatched planks of the top and the beautiful wear and burnishing of the timbers. Area of the Calvados, circa 1720.
