An elegant French Napoleon III period, book-matched 'bois de rose' and gilt bronze mounted Salon table of good proportions, the serpentine shaped top with gilt bronze edge-moldings, th rails contoured by gilt bronze mouldings and gilt bronze mounts, standing on Cabriole legs decorated with stylised lions' heads. A hidden drawer is fitted to the front rail. Please note the high quality of the finely cast, chased and fire-gilt egg-and-dart motif mouldings, lions' heads and 'sabot' feet. This Salon table is able to be used as a writing table-desk. Area of Paris, circa 1870.
