The underside of the stool has the maker's stamp "Pecquereau" (Edouard Théodore Pecquereau), a pupil of Jacob Desmalter (1770–1841). Born in Paris on the 5th of May 1836, Pecquereau entered the Paris "Exposition Universelle" in 1878, where he won a silver medal. Area of Paris, circa 1870.
