A French Carpenter’s Workbench

A 19th century French carpenter's workbench made from a massive, single plank of oak, worn by many generations of use. Standing above four chamfered legs joined by sturdy stretcher rails. Retaining the vice and the forged steel 'dog', used to pin planks to the top. This workbench can be used as a quirky hall table, or console. Area of Normandy, circa 1880.

Condition report: In good and original condition, showing much wear in keeping with its use and age. Presently with a very dry finish.
Dimensions: 175 x 38 cm, height 80 cm.
