A set of twelve 19th century French “Lampion” glasses, also known as “14th of July” glasses, hand-blown and showing their rudimentary manufacturing technique.
These “Lampion” glasses were designed to hold a candle, and to be placed outdoors on window sills on the evenings of Bastille Days, on the 14th of July. Their wonderful character and size makes them into wonderfully rustic drinking glasses. Note the French national colours, in the clear, blue and red glass tonalities. Area of Normandy, circa 1880.
Price is for the indivisible set of twelve.
