An early 20th century French glazed majolica wine and water pitcher in the shape of a rooster, fitted with a tail-shaped handle, each of the sides of the pitcher inscribed with 'Le Coq Gaulois' and 'Chantecler pour la France '. The wine/water is poured out from its beak. The underside is stamped with hallmarks of the Faiencerie de Onnaing. Area of Northern France, circa 1920.
