A set of 8 Champagne Coupes

A set of 8 vintage French cut crystal Champagne 'coupe' glasses, the bowls very luminous and decorated with a delicate cut motif, above simple stems and plinths. The undersides of the plinths with the pincer marks left by the glass maker. As opposed to drinking from Champagne flutes, the coupes (supposedly modelled on Marie Antoinette's anatomy) offer up Champagne bubbles, so as to tickle one's nose. Area of Paris, circa 1950.
