A pair of Charles Balaine Champagne Buckets

An early, identical pair of 19th century French silvered Champagne buckets of Classical Medici vase shape, decorated with large foliate motif handles and with gadrooned mouldings. The undersides are stamped "C. Balaine a Paris". Charles Balaine ran his Parisian silversmithing workshop in the rue du Faubourg du Temple between 1827 and 1844. Please note the very high quality of the silversmithing.  Area of Paris, circa 1840.

Condition report: In good and original, unrestored condition, showing slight surface wear in keeping with its age and use including small dents and silver plate wear.
