An 18th Century Provincial Bench Seat

A long and narrow, 18th century French Provincial carved solid chestnut of wonderful design, the back-rest fitted with rows of baluster-turned pilasters, flanked by scrolled arm rests. Please note the wonderfully burnished and faded timbers. Area of Brittany, circa 1780.

Condition report: Complete and in as-found condition, requiring some structural repairs, repairs to a missing bit of moulding, surface cleaning, waxing and buffing.
Dimensions: 183 x 46 cm, height of backrest 82 cm, height of seat 46 cm.
