A large 18th Century French Revolutionary Bowl

 A large 18th Century French Revolutionary period majolica 'Saladier' salad bowl, decorated in the typical style of the Faiences de Nevers, with scalloped edges and with stylised polychrome decorations, the centre of the bowl decorated with "The Meeting of the Three Orders": their symbols being a spade, a 'crosier' (a bishop's crook) and a sword. A fleur-de-lys sits under a royal crown, and the bowl is inscribed with "Union Force". Manufacture of Nevers, circa 1790.

Condition report: In good and original condition showing suitable wear in keeping with age and use. Some small wear on outer edges, no chips or cracks. The rear fitted with its antique woven-wire wall-hanging holder.
