A "Birds" Majolica Jug

A Belgian Art Nouveau period majolica jug decorated with haut-relief birds sitting on branches, the body of the jug with a basket weave background. The underside is stamped with the hallmark of the 'Mouzin Lecat' pottery. The colours and motifs are typical of the pottery of the work of 19th century potters from the area of Northern France and Southern Belgium. Area of Nimy, Belgium, circa 1880.
