An early 20th century French fruit press, the oak timber slats bound by steel belts, on a solid beechwood plinth with a spout. A steel handle turns on a screw, which lowers a timber plate onto the fruit (apples/grapes) being pressed. This press is complete with its timber 'chocks', to help squeeze the last of the juices. Area of Normandy, circa 1930.
