A 19th century French carpenter's workbench, the top made from a single plank of oak, now worn by many generations of use. The massive work-top standing above four chamfered legs joined by sturdy stretcher rails. Retaining the vice and the forged steel 'dog', which is used to pin planks down to the top. This workbench can be used in a carpentry workshop, or as a hall table, or as a console. Area of Normandy, circa 1880.
