An early "Bull's Head" Can Opener

An early cast iron can opener in the shape of a bull's head, the tail turning in on itself to form the handle. The can opener is fitted with its original blade, with a spike for making a hole in the can and a blade to open the can with. This sort of can opener was invented for troops in the field, for opening their tinned rations. Very similar "bull" model openers were used in the American Civil War, the Boer War and even in the First World War. USA, circa 1900.
