A Bust Of Madame du Barry

A 19th century French Napoleon III period plaster bust on a round pedestal, a copy of a renown marble bust made of Madame (Comtesse) du Barry, the favourite and the "Maîtresse-en-titre" of King Louis XV, in 1773 by Augustin Pajou (Paris 1730-1809). The original bust is on display at the Musee du Louvre. King Louis XV had the Château de Louveciennes gifted to her, in which she lived until her demise during the French Revolution. Area of Paris, circa 1860.

Condition report: In good and original condition, showing slight wear in keeping with its age.
