A 19th century French Napoleon III period, Louis XVI style, roll-top mahogany and gilt brass-moulded desk, the raised top fitted with a marble insert and with a raised and fretted gilt brass gallery, above two shallow drawers. The centre panel of the cylinder is made with rare 'plum pudding' mahogany. Internally this bureau is fitted with drawers and with open compartments and with a slide-out writing surface fitted with the original gilt-edge leather top. Area of Paris, circa 1880.
