A French Louis XV style serpentine-fronted and 'Bombée Commode' of fine proportions, decorated with kingwood and tulipwood parquetry inlays. Retaining its original, shaped and moulded 'Breche' marble top and all of its finely chased gilt brass handles, escutcheons and decorative mounts. Please note the jewellery-like quality of handles and mounts and the harmonious proportions of this piece, which is typical of the fine cabinetmaking workshops of the Parisian 'Faubourg Saint Antoine' district. A maker's mark J.B. Moreau is stamped on the commode top, under the marble. Area of Paris, circa 1900.
