A 19th century French provincial, Louis XV style 'commode' chest of drawers, built of solid oak, with a bowed-front and with bombe flanks, the façade decorated with haut-relief carved 'Rocaille' mouldings and with stylised seashell and foliate motifs, retaining the original oak patination and the original gilt brass handles and escutcheons. The top retains the original, moulded-edge 'Breche' marble top. Please note the exquisite quality of the carved decorations and the wonderful colour of marble top. Area of Toulouse, Southern France, circa 1880.
