A masculine and elegant, early 19th century Parisian Charles X period, maple and finely inlaid walnut chest of drawers fitted with its original “Gris Saint Anne” marble top. Of wonderful proportions and simple Neoclassical design. This short period in furniture style history, known as "Bois Clair" (pale timber), was inspired by the preceding French Empire style and eventually gives rise to the Biedermeier style with its pale timbers and dark timber inlays. Area of Isle de France (Greater Paris), circa 1820.
