An 18th century French Louis XVI period carved and gilded, wall-mounted Torricelli barometer of excellent Neoclassical design. The outsized pediment is in the shape of a fabric tie with a central 'Rosette', flanked by a ribbons and laurel wreaths, the circular body retaining its handwritten ink-on-paper barometer's face, well-preserved under glass. Retaining its original hand blown glass mechanism filled with mercury which is, seemingly, still in working order. Area of Paris, circa 1780.
