A pair of 19th century French Louis XVI style carved solid walnut hall chairs, the backrests' uprights in the shape of quivers (an allegory for 'the arrows of passion'), standing on finely tapering and fluted legs. Please note the very high quality of the haut relief carved decorations, including the paterae, the string-of-pearl moldings, and the foliate scroll motifs. Area of Paris, circa 1880.
