An early 19th century French provincial, Napoleon III period, Louis XV style solid oak "Buffet Vitré de Mariage", (a glazed marriage-buffet), originally used in a home as a storage and display piece, and given as a gift to a newly-wed couple. The timbers are nicely-burnished and with the original patina, retaining the original internal shelving. Fitted with an elegant and large "Chapeau de Gendarme" pediment. This piece of furniture, born as a buffet, will make an excellent bookcase. Area of Pays de Caux (Upper Normandy), circa 1860.
