An early 19th century French Empire period (Napoleon 1st), lit-en-bateau day bed, the flame mahogany frame flanked by solid mahogany pilasters fitted with very finely cast, chased and fire-gilt bronze capitols and plinths. Retaining the original 'crown' and hanging curtains. Retaining the original large wool-stuffed cushion/mattress and roller cushions, but not retaining the 'sommier' bed base.  (Please enquire about this last detail). Area of Paris, circa 1810.

Condition report: In good and original condition, showing slight wear, in keeping with its age. Requiring small repairs to lifted veneers and repolishing. Our workshop can have all fabrics dry cleaned and steam cleaned, on request. The bed will require a mattress base, which our workshop can re-build.
Dimensions: 187 x 99 cm, height of bed ends 107 cm (plus the height of crown and curtains).
