A pair of 19th century French Directoire style, carved, turned and painted Fauteuil armchairs of fine and Classical proportions, the back-rests with a subtly painted cris-cross pattern on the woven rattan cane, with 'Chapeau de Gendarme' top rails and with upholstered seats, standing on elegantly tapering and fluted legs. Please note the wonderful luminosity of the painted finish. Area of Paris, circa 1880.

Condition report: In good and original condition, the original painted finish showing very slight wear in keeping with its age. Requiring the covering fabric to be replaced.
Dimensions: Width 58 cm, height of back-rests 91 cm.
