A pair of 18th century William and Mary period armchairs, the tall, haut relief carved and fretted backs and front rails decorated with 'C' and 'S' scrolls and with foliate and floral motifs, the uprights and each of the four legs in the shapes of turned and carved balusters. Please note the excellent height of the backrests, and also the elegance of the wonderfully splayed armrests. Area of London, circa 1710.
