A pair of French Directoire Armchairs

A pair of 19th century French Directoire style carved and painted Bergere armchairs of good Neoclassical proportions, standing on elegantly turned 'Jacob' feet, designed with elegantly sweeping arms and splayed back-rests, the shaped seats fitted with separate cushions for extra comfort. Note the elegance of the sweep of the back-rests. Area of Paris, circa 1880.

Dimensions: In good and un-restored condition. The painted surfaces require cleaning and small touch-ups. The old upholstery fabric may be re-usable after a steam clean but will probably need replacing.
