An exceptionally large 19th century French provincial oak and steel-banded 'pichet' measuring jug, used for measuring/ serving wine and cider. This pitcher was made with fine and traditional coopering work, by French wine barrel-makers. Area of Normandy, circa 1860.
Condition report: In good and original condition, showing very slight wear in keeping with its age and use.
