An elegant, early 19th century French Empire period 'Curule' stool, the 'X' shape design derived directly from similar, ancient Roman furniture, the polished walnut-tinted beechwood parcel ebonised and parcel gilt. Upholstered with Empire style fabric. Area of Paris, circa 1810.
