A large and finely chased and gilt brass, two-light French Empire style Bouillotte table lamp fitted with its original painted and parcel-gilt tôle, adjustable-height oval lampshade. This sort of table lamp was designed to shield the reader's eyes from direct light. Note the high quality of the gilt and chased brass and in particular, the fretted plinth. The arms of the lamp-holders are in the shape of stylised lotus flowers. Area of Paris, circa 1930.
Condition report: In very good, original condition. Re-wired to Australian safety standards using gold silk electrical cord with a cord switch.
