A fine, early 20th century French Louis XVI style gilt brass-mounted mahogany bureau plat desk of good design and proportions, with pull-out extensions leaves opening at each of the ends. The top and the two pull-out extensions are fitted with the original gilt-edged green calf leather. The desk's decorations are restrained, with typical gilt brass French Neoclassical escutcheons and ring-handles, and with gilt brass mouldings around the drawers. The desk is well-presented on both sides, so that it can de displayed in the centre of a room. Area of Paris, circa 1930.
