A fine, mid 19th century French Napoleon III period, Louis XVI style solid Cuban mahogany pedestal desk of very good, Neoclassical proportions. Retaining all of its original, and wonderfully-faded patina, and all of its original drawer locks, each with a fretted steel and brass key. This desk also has two pull-out extensions which are fitted with the same natural gilt-edged leather as the top. The rear of the desk, designed so that it can face the room, is fitted with a central 'modesty panel' and is as finely made as the front of the desk. Very good leg-room under the top. This desk comes apart in four parts, for ease of transport. Area of Paris, circa 1870.
Condition report: In excellent condition throughout, needing a final wax and buff.
Dimensions: Length 145 cm x depth 80 cm, height 76 cm. Clearance height for knees 61 cm. When fully-extended, the top measures 215 x 80 cm.
