A 19th century French, Napoleon III period, Louis XVI style mahogany and gilt brass-mounted pedestal desk, fitted with extension slides opening at each of the two desk-ends. Designed to have the rear facing a room, this desk is well-finished on all four sides, and includes an elegant 'modesty'panel which is fitted at the rear. All the mouldings around the drawers, the flanks and the rear are made of repouséed, fire-gilt brass. Area of Paris, circa 1870.
Condition report: Complete and in good condition, now fully restored and with fresh gilt-edge and tooled leather on the desktop and pull-out slides.
