A 19th century French pedestal solid walnut desk of nine drawers, the facade with Neoclassical fluted pilasters and corbels. Two sliding extensions open at each end. The top and extension slides fitted with leather inserts. The rear of the desk is designed to face the public, and is fitted with a 'modesty' panel. An elegant and simple piece, with ample leg room. Made by "Mercier et Cie" in the Parisian Faubourg Saint Antoine. Area of Paris, circa 1880.
Condition report: In excellent, unrestored condition. The walnut timbers nicely faded by time.
