A small sized French Louis XVI style, mahogany 'bureau plat' desk of Neoclassical design, the front fitted with three shallow drawers, the top fitted with embossed and gilt edged leather. The desk's decorations are restrained, masculine in character, and is well-presented on all four sides, so that it can be used in the centre of a room as a library table. Area of Paris, circa 1930.
