A fine, French Louis XVI style gilt brass Montgolfier chandelier decorated in the shape of a hot air balloon, with six gilt brass 'bateau' sconces on a frieze with string-of-pearl mouldings, the body of the light made with long chains of crystals above a 'basket' of crystal-chains. The plinth is decorated with pencil crystals and a repousseed gilt brass plate. Internally fitted with five lights that light up the crystal chains from within. Of excellent, Classical proportions and made with fine quality crystals and workmanship. Area of Paris, circa 1930.
This item is due in Melbourne in late 2026.
Condition report: In good and original, unrestored condition. Requiring to be wired to Australian safety standards.
Dimensions: Diameter 70 cm, height 96 cm, plus required chain and ceiling cup.
