A fine 19th century French Louis XVI style 'canape' sofa, the parcel gilt walnut frame decorated with hand-carved 'lambs' tongue' mouldings, the crest decorated with a haut-relief carved crossed 'quiver and torch' allegory, and with acanthus leaf and knotted-ribbon motifs. Standing on tapering and fluted legs. Please note the excellent walnut patination. Area of Paris, circa 1880.

Photos taken indoors, and photos taken in outdoor lighting conditions show different tones of fabric, although the fabric is identical.
Condition report: In very good and original, unrestored condition. The old fabric is in good condition and has now been steam cleaned.
