A fine 19th century French Louis XVI style 'canape' sofa, the parcel gilt walnut frame decorated with hand-carved 'lambs' tongue' mouldings, the crest decorated with a haut-relief carved crossed 'quiver and torch' allegory, and with acanthus leaf and knotted-ribbon motifs. Standing on tapering and fluted legs. Please note the excellent walnut patination. Area of Paris, circa 1880.
Please note: this sofa was originally part of a set, which sells separately. It includes the pair of 'fauteuil' armchairs #16365, the pair of chairs #16366 and the wing-back armchair #13920.
Photos taken indoors, and photos taken in outdoor lighting conditions show different tones of fabric, although the fabric is identical.
Condition report: In very good and original, unrestored condition. The old fabric is in good condition and has now been steam cleaned.
