An early 20th century French Neoclassical wall plaque depicting Daphnis and Chloe in a tender embrace, Daphnis gently removing a thorn from her foot. This plaque is hand carved from limestone and the rear shows the original calcium carbonate taken from a cave in the St. Alyre region - as states the label at the rear of the original carved and gilt frame. Area of Clermont-Ferrand, circa 1930.
